Following a disheartening home loss on Thanksgiving that dropped them to 4-7 and out of playoff contention, the Detroit Lions were home licking their wounds.
On Monday night, Jeopardy threw some salt in ’em.
The Detroit Lions haven’t had a lot of NFL success through the years. Ok, that’s an understatement with the team not so much as winning a playoff game since the early 1990s. As a result, the Lions have not managed to make the Super Bowl and remain somewhat of an NFL punchline. And that was only proven more thanks to a new clue on the show Jeopardy!
During the first round of play, the $600 clue in the category “Predictions by 2030” mocked the Lions’ long-running lack of success with winning the NFC North or a playoff game.
The clue was: “As of 2018, this NFC North team had never even made the Super Bowl, much less won it. But by 2030? Gotta happen, right?”
The answer, of course, is the Lions, as any Detroiter could tell you.
As Sports Illustrated pointed out, Lions fans couldn’t even escape their team’s problems when sitting down to relax and watch a simple gameshow.
